Langflow /api/v1/validate/code Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (CVE-2025-3248)
Executive & SecOps Summary
SECOPS ASSESSMENTLangflow versions prior to 1.3.0
A remote, unauthenticated attacker can execute arbitrary Python code and fully compromise the host system by sending crafted HTTP requests.
Immediately upgrade Langflow to version 1.3.0 or later, and restrict external access to the vulnerable endpoint.
Affected Products & Version Scope
Remediation & Live Workaround Commands
PATCH & WORKAROUND1. Official Patch Application (Recommended)
Immediately upgrade your Langflow installation to version 1.3.0 or later.
# For pip-based installations
pip install --upgrade langflow
# For Docker-based deployments
docker pull langflowai/langflow:latest2. Temporary Mitigations
If immediate patching is not feasible, implement the following network and WAF controls:
- Endpoint Restriction: Block all external HTTP requests targeting the
/api/v1/validate/codepath. - WAF Signature: Configure Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules to inspect and block requests containing suspicious Python execution patterns (e.g.,
os.system,subprocess,__import__).
Block Exploits Instantly with Managed Virtual Patching Rules
Can't patch production immediately? Deploy managed WAF rules at the edge to intercept RCE, SQLi, and deserialization payloads before they hit your origin server.
Technical Root Cause & Exploitation Mechanics
This vulnerability (CVE-2025-3248) exists in the /api/v1/validate/code endpoint of Langflow, an AI workflow builder. The endpoint lacks proper authentication and authorization controls (CWE-306) and processes input code dynamically (CWE-94) without sufficient validation. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted HTTP POST request containing malicious Python payloads, leading to arbitrary code execution on the server. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild and is listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
Official Vendor Advisories & References
Langflow versions prior to 1.3.0 are susceptible to code injection in the /api/v1/validate/code endpoint. A remote and unauthenticated attacker can send crafted HTTP requests to execute arbitrary code.
